Bertelsmann believes the good health and happiness of our employees and their families is extremely important. To that end, we offer all regular employees several comprehensive medical plan options for health, dental and vision, including PPO or HMO membership through leading insurance carriers. Bertelsmann currently pays the major portion of the comprehensive medical plan premium, while employees contribute a small part of the total cost of their health care coverage. Some companies at Bertelsmann also offer (EAP) employee assistance program hotlines, health fairs, health management web sites & programs with tips on staying healthy, as well as physical fitness reimbursement programs.

Perks & The Fun Stuff
Many Bertelsmann companies offer localized benefits and perks that relate to the businesses they operate in. For example, an employee at Random House might get free or discounted books, or an employee at SONY BMG might get free cd’s or discounted concert tickets, or employees at one of our music clubs might get a fantastic membership at a discounted price. Bertelsmann provides basic life coverage at no cost to staff members. The benefit level for life is two times base annual earnings. In some countries and companies, Bertelsmann also provides additional life coverage options to employees for a nominal cost.

Many Bertelsmann companies all over the world have various physical fitness programs such as basketball, soccer, yoga, baseball, weight watchers, and many other programs. Some of our facilities even have discount gym or health club memberships, while other locations may have a nearby or in-house company-sponsored gym or health club that employees can use for a nominal fee. In some of our European locations we have lunch-time workouts designed to maximize work-life balance and promote a healthy life style for those who are busy. In some of our US locations we may offer lunch time Yoga or after work sports team. Either way, there are lots of opportunities to stay healthy and fit at Bertelsmann.

Holidays, Sick Leave, and Other Time Off
Bertelsmann provides paid holidays each calendar year to all employees. Each company’s policy will vary. Additionally employees might also get sick leave, personal days, and eligible employees in certain companies may even get sabatticals.
